Maternity Ward

The TCI Hospital has 30 beds-20 at the Cheshire Hall Medical Centre on Providenciales and 10 at the Cockburn Town Medical Centre on Grand Turk. The Multidisciplinary Teams on each Ward specialises in caring for a range of illnesses; Neonates, Children, Ophthalmology, Orthopaedic, Elderly Care, Medicine, Plastic Surgery, General Surgery, Gynaecological patients and Ear, Nose & Throat.

Both the General Ward and the Maternity Unit have a team of experienced Medical staff backed up by Pharmacists, Midwives, Nurses, Housekeepers and Portering staff.

There are many reasons for admission to our units and staff understands that coming into hospital can be anxious time however; every effort is made to enable patients and their families to gain a full picture as possible of the issues that led to admission.

There may be a physical health need that has to be met and the team request investigations such as scans and blood test and liaise with specialist Medical Staff if required. They then plan the treatment and care required involving patient at every stage. The aim is to keep the length of admission short but also as therapeutic as possible so that the individual return home with appropriated care. Patient, relatives and care givers can expect to be treated with respect and dignity.

A Nurse Manager discusses standards such as Nursing care, Infection Control Policy and Confidentiality and is available to discuss any concerns, complaints or compliments. The Ward Pharmacist will also discuss the medication that the patient will be taking after discharge to ensure understanding and compliance and there may be followed up.
