InterHealth Canada was awarded a 25 year contract TO FINANCE, PLAN, DESIGN, CONSTRUCT, STAFF, COMMISSION, AND MANAGE TWO NEW HOSPITALS IN THE TURKS AND CAICOS ISLANDS
The facilities are operating with nearly 300 clinical staff, including employees from the existing hospitals. There is a scheduled visiting consultant program for a range of specialty services. Regular routine and emergency recommendations for any treatment required under the Emergency Overseas Treatment program are made and monitored.
The facility was opened on time and on budget despite both hospitals suffering damage from Hannah and Ike Hurricanes during the construction phase. Both Centres are certified as storm proof to withstand category 5 Hurricanes.
- First integrated healthcare PPP in the Caribbean.
- The hospitals received its first Diamond Accreditation by Accreditation Canada International less than two years after opening.
- InterHealth Canada worked with the government to develop the National Health Insurance Plan.
- The project Won the “Latin American PPP Deal of 2008” award from Project Finance Magazine and picked by KPMG and the Infrastructure Journal’s infrastructure 100 as one of the world’s most interesting projects.
- Hospitals are certified as storm proof to Hurricanes- Category 5.

1994Interhealth Canada was established.
2008Awarded a contract to build and operate two new hospitals for the Government of the Turks and Caicos Islands over a period of 25 years.
2010Opening of the Cheshire Hall Medical Centre and the Cockburn Town Medical Centre.
2012Turks and Caicos Islands Project awarded the highest possible accreditation “Diamond Status” by Accreditation Canada International.
