After twelve (12) years in private practice specializing in corporate/commercial work with an emphasis on international content, John Hyland commenced working as an “in house” lawyer for companies with international business interests.
Between 1981 – 1997 John became involved in multiple development projects principally in Africa and Middle East including joint ventures, financing via euro-dollar and sterling denominated loans and related construction contracts with specific responsibility for the formation and operation of required local subsidiaries, negotiation and preparation of financing agreements, and all related commercial contracts.
John has led negotiations with National Government Officials on behalf of providers and delivered presentations to meetings of Commonwealth Ministers of Health, Ministers of Finance, British Expertise, National Governments and others.
Since 1997, he has acted as International Legal Counsel for the Interhealth Canada group of companies, with a broad oversight legal role and where he spearheads the preparation of operating contracts, credit agreements and other related financial documents and the formation of Public Private Partnership arrangements in the United Kingdom and other Commonwealth and non-Commonwealth countries.
One of his notable accomplishments is his leadership role in the creation of a “World First” solution for the integrated infrastructure and clinical delivery arrangements which are reflected in the Project Agreement governing the TCI Hospital.
