Our patients are invited to share their honest feedback and participate in patient experience surveys throughout the year. Don’t take our word for it, see for yourself. We go the extra mile to listen to our patients, and give them the care that they expect.
Keep up the great work
I just want to commend and say a big thank you to the nurses and doctors who were on duty at the emergency room this morning. I needed blood work for my son with additional needs they were not able to get the blood at a private clinic earlier that morning so the doctor wrote a referral for us to go to the emergency room to possibly be sedated if needed. Once there I was informed they will not be doing any sedation and they will get the blood. With their training and expertise as well as all hands on deck they were able to get the blood they needed and my son was not at all traumatized. I appreciate them for being so understanding and exercising empathy towards us in a situation that was a big deal to us. Keep up the great work , doctors and nurses with compassion rock 👍🏾 Shande Missick

Dr. Mauchaza and Dr. Burgess saved my son Chad s life.
"When I got up around 3 am I realized my son Chad and nephew Collin weren't home. The next day they were scheduled to return to New York. I went back to sleep until 6 am when my wife woke me saying Chad and Collin were in a car accident. I got up, called the Emergency Room and headed over to Cheshire Hall Medical Centre, not sure where it was located or what I would find. Both were in the Emergency Room. Our son Chad was complaining of extreme stomach pain. He’d already had one dose of morphine and asked for more. This was around 6:30 am. The emergency room doctor, Dr Doshia Auguste, called the Head of Surgery Dr. Bonnie Mauchaza, who was on his way. After reviewing the CT scan Dr. Mauchaza recommended emergency abdominal surgery to determine the cause of Chad’s severe pain. Dr. Mauchaza then cleared the surgical schedule and immediately set the wheels turning to help Chad. Chad and his cousin Collin were drunk from a long night of drinking. They hitched a ride from the bar in Salt Mills to their intended destination, The Somerset on Grace Bay. The driver, another guest at the resort, was also inebriated and wrecked the car at the IGA roundabout on Leeward Highway. The car was totalled. The driver failed to circle the roundabout. Instead he went through the centre landing into the white concrete wall on the other side. Driver and cousin Collin were protected by their seat belts and air bags. Chad in the back had a seat belt fastened but no air bag. Sadly, Chad was nearly cut in two by the crash impact. Dr. Mauchaza and Dr. Phillip Burgess worked for about four hours putting Chad back together. His abdominal muscles were cut right through, there was small and large intestine damage and muscles needing repair. Because of the involvement of the intestines, risk of infection was a serious concern. The CT scan showed only the possibility of a small tear in the small intestine. Dr. Mauchaza wisely recommended emergency surgery. Waiting almost four hours while Chad was being reconstructed afforded time for continual prayer. There were many long moments when I prepared myself for the worst. Mercifully, Dr. Mauchaza and Dr. Burgess saved my son Chad s life. Had this unfortunate accident occurred before Cheshire Hall Medical Centre was built Chad would have had to have been airlifted to Miami and who knows what the outcome might have been. Dr Mauchaza exudes professionalism and experience. We, Chad and I were confident Dr. Mauchaza would put him back together. Dr. Mauchaza, Dr. Burgess and the entire High Dependency Unit nursing staff delivered the highest level of professional care around the clock for over two weeks healing Chad back to health. The physicians, nurses, and support staff including the custodial staff and cafeteria personnel all contributed to Chad’s recovery. We remain eternally grateful to the Cheshire Hall Medical Centre and especially Dr. Mauchaza and Dr. Burgess for saving Chad’s life and returning him to health." Sincerely Joel Rosow

Heartfelt Thanks
“Please allow me to convey my gratitude to your staff who has provided my medical care over the past 2 years. I'm fully aware of how the media are sometimes quick to remind us of the shortcomings in the services provided by many government agencies and private sectors; nevertheless, I am extremely pleased and grateful to be able to confirm that reports such as these were not indicative of the services I received in both Grand Turk and Providenciales. I want to offer my heartfelt thanks to them and many others whose work is driving innovation and improving the lives of our people in the Turks and Caicos Islands. From the strong network of specialists and clinicians collaborating in both Grand Turk and Providenciales, to the organizations and InterHealth Canada who play such an important role in bringing new discoveries from labs to patients' bedsides; to the advocates, government representatives and donors who pave the way for expanding the knowledge of medicine. They have come a long way since I left the Turks and Caicos Islands over 35 years ago. I have been in the care of many Doctors and Specialist abroad and there is not much comparison to the great service I have received here. Thank you for the unwavering dedication, the talents, skills and compassion that brings hope to our people and families. I am truly grateful for your enduring commitment to serve our communities. Furthermore, it is amazing to see the efficiency and patience that takes place within the hospital walls. A special thanks to internist Dr. Ravindra for his positive engagement and thoroughness with me. On a side note, I realize that in the Turks and Caicos Islands we have limited skills in this area of expertise; however, to ensure we have the needed maturity levels and tenure, the selection process should be vetted a bit more carefully when it comes to primary Doctors. I would be grateful if this letter could be forwarded to the relevant departments as I know it is always good to receive positive feedback when carrying out a difficult and challenging role.” - Mr. Ed Forbes, President of Exclusive Escapes Tours

Keeping patients calm and pain-free.
I was in the middle of a CAT scan procedure, which required IV access. Having had bad experiences with needles I requested, if possible, that the lab would do it. Akela Forbes helped out right away and did it painlessly at first attempt. Thank you for her immediate help.

Friendly and Professional Staff.
I would like to compliment Akela Forbes from the Lab on an excellent job. She is very professional. I would like to acknowledge Ms. Latricia Ingham on her professionalism displayed.

Supportive to Cancer Patients.
From referring cancer patients to us for assistance, to inquiring about the well-being of a patient; we cannot express how much this means to us and by extension the patients themselves. We have had cancer patients who have expressed how caring and supportive you are and what a difference it makes in their challenge with cancer. I would like to say thanks so much for providing a service, and care, that is second to none.

Professional Staff
All staff were professional as could be. They are a credit to this facility. I was impressed by the friendliness and professionalism of the staff and the sense that they liked their job and were highly motivated. This is especially of note at the end of the day when employees tend to be drained and weary.

I felt like a queen.
The nurses and doctors were all great. I felt like a queen. Never once did I complain. From the moment I entered the emergency room on the 17th until my last day. From the time I entered the check-in point, I was greeted by Doctor Annikie and the staff that night were great.
